International Open Access Week (OAW) is held annually to inspire global momentum toward the open sharing of knowledge to address important social issues. This year's OAW will take place from 24 to 30 October 2022, and the theme is Open For Climate Justice. The Open Science Centre of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague decided to focus not only on this theme but also on topics related to the Open Science (OS) movement in general.
We have prepared an exciting programme, which will take place from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 October. Throughout the event, you can enter a competition to win a USB flash drive that can hold up to 65 thousand of Open Access articles.

How can Open Science principles benefit research and society as a whole? Join us in the Hall area on the 1st floor of the CZU Library, where we will be happy to talk to you about Open Science and answer any of your questions. There will also be project consultants, Ing. Patrik Toula and Ing. Jitka Jechová from the Department for Strategic Planning at CZU, who will be happy to advise you on how projects and Open Access work in projects, as well as what individual project centres can provide methodological support at the faculties. We'll enjoy delicious coffee from a regional family-owned roastery and themed treats from local pastry chefs.

Using Open Data from Remote Sensing for assessment of Ecosystem Health with Jakub Zelený (People in Need), 26 October 2022, 10:30 to 11:30
Jakub Zelený has worked on environmental issues as part of his undergraduate studies, focusing on integrating data and methods from the social and natural sciences. As part of his PhD studies at Charles University, he developed a method for assessing the ecosystem health of territorial units based on data from Remote Sensing of the Earth. He is currently working for People in Need as an environmental advisor. In this talk, he will show what information can be obtained from images from publicly available databases and what surprising conclusions can analyse of these data lead to. Join us to find out how Open Science principles can be used to benefit science and society. The event will be in English.
