2026

Operational Programme Title: Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme (OP JAK)
Call Title: Call No. 02_22_004 Individual Systemic Projects – Research and Development I
Project Title: Czech Academic and Research Discovery Services (CARDS)
Project Registration Number: CZ.02.01.01/00/22_004/0004342
Project Implementation Period: 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2028

Project Abstract:
The CARDS project aims to develop and pilot a new shared library and information platform for the segment of research and academic libraries in the Czech Republic. This next-generation platform (NGP) will provide high-quality discoverability and accessibility of resources (electronic, digitised, and print) as well as research outputs through a central discovery tool and additional services for research, development, and innovation (RDI) communities, regardless of their physical location. Furthermore, the project contributes to the creation of a shared framework for the implementation of data-oriented components of the Open Science strategy in the Czech Republic, primarily within the pillars of Open/FAIR Data and EOSC.

Project Objectives:
The main objective of the CARDS Individual Systemic Project (IPs) is to create a unified environment for sharing and efficient management of information resources and to contribute to the establishment of a common framework for implementing data-oriented components of the Open Science strategy in the Czech Republic, primarily within the pillars of Open/FAIR Data and EOSC. The project is complementary to the EOSC-CZ IPs coordinated by e-INFRA CZ (Masaryk University) and together they form the core framework for the implementation of further Open Science calls under OP JAK (Call No. 02_23_014 Open Science I and Call No. 02_24_030 Open Science II).

Programme Title: Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme
Call Number: 02_23_022

Project Title: Enhancing the Quality and Effectiveness of the Educational Process and Strategic Management at CZU in Prague
Project Registration Number: CZ.02.02.XX/00/23_022/0009069
Physical Implementation Period: 1 October 2024 – 31 December 2028

Project Abstract:
The aim of the project is to enhance the quality of education by adapting study programmes to current and emerging challenges; increasing the share of professionally oriented study programmes as well as programmes structured for blended or distance learning; and internationalising study programmes through the introduction of new courses taught in foreign languages, the development and modification of study programmes delivered in foreign languages, and the establishment of cooperation with other universities. Further objectives include the internationalisation of studies through the support of Welcome Office services, the introduction of internships, and support for CZU’s involvement in European University Alliances and mobility programmes; the development and enhancement of skills and competences of CZU staff; the reduction of study failure rates through specialised courses and appropriate counselling, including support for students with specific needs; increasing the range of activities for prospective students from primary and secondary schools as well as for applicants to doctoral study programmes; support for students with specific needs in the areas of counselling and the adjustment of admission and study conditions; and, finally, the improvement of strategic management at CZU at both the university-wide level and the level of individual faculties.

Start of Application Submission: 1 December 2025
End of Application Submission: 31 January 2026
Expected Start of Implementation of Return Grants: 1 May 2026

Project Objectives:
The objective of the call is to help ensure that career interruptions due to maternity/parental leave, long-term illness, or long-term care for a child or a close person do not result in the termination or significant slowing of the further professional careers of research staff with high potential for qualified employment. Support will be provided through the pilot testing of the implementation of grant schemes targeting this type of intervention within research organisations.

To bohužel platí i přes narůstající problémy spojené s kybernetickou bezpečností, hybridní válkou, rychlým technologickým rozvojem online médií a dokonce i přes narůstající angažovanost ČR (i v mezinárodní sféře) v rozvoji vzdělávacích aktivit v oblasti mediální gramotnosti.

Kurz bude distribuován prostřednictvím partnerů (zapojených do regionálních sítí) složených z různých aktérů zapojených do vzdělávání (střední odborné školy, knihovny, mládežnické organizace, e-seniorské platformy) vybraných zejména ze strukturálně vyloučených regionů s nízkými výsledky mediální gramotnosti. Distribuci napomohou workshopy s pedagogy partnerů. V obecné rovině projekt přispěje k odolnosti vůči kybernetickým hrozbám a k cílům, které si ČR vytyčila v oblasti kybernetické bezpečnosti.

Media literacy development is both increasingly important and highly underestimated in Czech Republic's educational system. Previous research showed both low interest in the subject by educational institutions (including lifelong learning institutions) and dismal scores of existing media literacy. Unfortunately, this holds true despite increasing issues connected to cybersecurity, hybrid warfare, rapid technological development of online media and the CR (and international) commitment to developing educational activities aimed to drive the solution.

The project “Media literacy interactively and for everyone” seeks to develop media literacy among particularly vulnerable target groups of students aged 15 - 19 and seniors aged 65+. These groups are vulnerable due to their high use of technology combined with yet developing critical thinking (case of students) and underdeveloped skill set to safely and effectively function in the online environment. This will be achieved by developing and distributing two interactive massive open online courses (one per target group). Each course, didactically adapted for the particular target group, will cover subjects such as critical thinking subjects, new and old media, or fact-checking. The course will be distributed via partners consisting of various institutional actors involved in education (high schools, libraries, youth organizations, e-senior platforms) selected particularly from structurally excluded regions with low scores of media literacy. Distribution will be aided by workshops with partners' educators and the development of an `escape game designed to increase the project's visibility. On a general level, the project will contribute to intergenerational learning, resilience to cyber threats and goals CR singed for in the areas of cybersecurity (e.g., education, tech sovereignty, international cooperation).
